TABUHAN CAVE AT PACITAN






Cave Tabuhan at Pacitan. Located in East Java, precisely in Wareng Village, Punung district, Pacitan district, about 40 km to the west of Pacitan City, this cave offers a charming natural beauty. In addition to the beauty of stalactites and stalagmite, Tabuhan cave is also famous for its uniqueness, the stone structure / wall of the cave that can issue a sound like a gamelan when hit. The other mystical side offered by this cave is the presence of several splinters in which it is believed to contain magical powers.
                                      
 

Historically, this cave was originally discovered by Kyai Santiko Lelana when he was searching for his lost cow. After that, this cave was taken over and cleaned by two people namely Raden Bagus Joko and Raden Putri. Before becoming a tourist attraction, this cave was once a place to meditate or meditate, it is no wonder many people call this cave as cave Tapan.
Even the myth, Prince Diponegoro had once been imprisoned here.
But along with the times and maintenance, this cave finally turned the function of becoming a tourist attraction. Opened since 1998, now this cave has become an icon for the city of Pacitan

 

In this cave, there are 2 main rooms. Once inside the cave is shaped like a dome, you will be treated to beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. The length of each stalactite and stalactite is about 7 meters and its diameter reaches 1 meter.
When observed, the stalactite and stalagmite sequences resemble pillars supporting the cave. The road in the cave is quite big, but if you search deeper you will find a small road that is believed to be the stopover of Prince Diponegoro and his followers when first imprisoned.

 

Some rocks in the cave can produce unique sounds such as gamelan (traditional Javanese musical instruments) when beaten. Therefore, a group of traditional musicians take advantage of this uniqueness to hold musical performances in the cave. They consist of drummers, drummers, and sinden or  Javanese singers. It's hard to believe, but this is what makes this cave typical. If the weekend arrives, you can enjoy this show for free because more visitors are coming. However it is advisable to give voluntary money to these viewers. But if you want this show to be held during normal day, then you have to spend Rp 70.000 for one show. Usually, these musicians will play 5-6 songs in one performance.
